
Volleyball Taken Down by Spurgeon
The Kansas Christian volleyball team fell to Spurgeon College in their second home match of the season. The loss drops the Falcons to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in Central Region play.
Spurgeon got out to a hot start as they pulled away for a 25-8 victory in the first set. The Falcons responded with a strong effort in the second set leading 12-11 midway through the second set, but Spurgeon wouldn't relent as the Falcons fell 25-21. Eight straight points for Spurgeon made a hole Kansas Christian could not come back from in the third and final set and the Falcons fell 25-17.
Jo-Annie Perez Rodriguez led the Falcons in kills with six. She also had four assists and seven digs. Laney Shipley led the team in digs with 11 in the match. Shipley also had a team high four block assists. Natalie Sansom added three block assists. Abigail Dahman offered the mosts assists for the Falcons with nine.
The volleyball team will host a JV match with Ottawa on Saturday, at 1pm in Cowen Memorial Auditorium. Another JV game will follow on Monday at 6:30pm in Iola, Kan. against Allen County Community College.
