Kansas Christian women's basketball earned their first win of the season on Saturday. The Falcons took a hard fought victory over Central Christian College of the Bible 60-58 in Cowen Memorial Auditorium.
The game featured a wild finish. After trailing by as many as eight points in the first half, the Falcons trailed by three at halftime. In the third quarter, the Falcons used a 13-8 advantage to lead by two heading into the final quarter of play. Central Christian nailed a three to regain the lead in the opening seconds of the fourth.
Laura Guillamat-Ribo hit a three with 5:29 left to play to give the lead back to the Falcons, but Central Christian resonded with a 7-0 run to lead by six with just over four minutes to play. The Falcons then rattled off six straight points to tie the game. Quintella Neal hit a three to put the Falcons up three with two minutes reamining but Central Christian used two buckets to lead 58-57. Quintella Neal then nailed a deep three with four seconds on the clock and the Saints final shot was no good giving Kansas Christian their first win.
Melissah Henderson was the leading scorer for the Falcons with 15 points. Laura Guillamat-Ribo had a double-double behind 14 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Bryson scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Quintella Neal had 11 points.
The Falcons next game will be on the road at Calvary on January 9 at 5pm.
