Lady Falcons Split Hard Fought Series at Mission

Both days featured competititve games from both teams with Mission taking game one and game three of the series and the Falcons prevailing in games two and four. No game was decided by more than three runs. The first game of the series lasted 11 innings. 

In the opener, Mission jumped out to a four run lead in the first inning, but the Falcons clawed their way back with a run in the third and three more in the fifth inning. Trailing by one in the seventh, Kansas Christian tied the game on an RBI single by Trinitie Butler. In the ninth and tenth innings, Kansas Christian score a run but allowed a run in the bottom of the inning taking the game to the eleventh inning where Mission finally took the victory 8-7. Four Falcons had multi-hit games in the loss. Allison Boles went three for four with three runs scored and two RBIs. Trinite Butler, Josie Day, and Angela Akerstrom each had two hits. 

Kansas Christian bounced right back in game two charging out to a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. Mission responded with a five run inning but the Falcons tacked on four more runs the rest of the way to win the game 10-7. Lauren Shafer had two hits including a home run and two RBI. Five other Falcons recorded a hit. Angela Akerstrom and Allison Boles each had two RBIs. Jaden Adams tossed a complete game earning the win walking one and striking out four. 

On day two the scoring went down for both teams as the Falcons fell 5-2 in game three of the series. Josie Day had two doubles and Cherie Green had a double as well. Four other Falcons recorded hits. A five run fourth inning for Mission proved to be the difference. The Falcons responded with two runs in the fifth, but would draw no closer in the loss. Jaden Adams, Angela Akerstrom, and Josie Day split the game up pitching with Adams taking the loss. 

The final game of the series would be a 5-2 win for the Falcons. Five first run innings for Kansas Christian would be enough for the win. Mission scored one in the third and one in the seventh. Josie Day opened the scoring with an RBI single. Kaylee Clifton added an RBI single as well before Cherie Green stole hom. Hannah Wahl sent an RBI single to right field and Lauren Shafer drove in the fifth run with an RBI groundout. Jaden Adams started pitching going 4.1 innings allowing one run on five hits. Josie Day finished the game and earned the save allowing just one run and no hits.
