Softball Earns a Split With Central Christian

The Kansas Christian softball team split a double header with Central Christian at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy on Tuesday. 

The Falcons took game one 3-2. Ari Lopez pitched one of her best games of the season going a complete game, seven innings allowing just two runs. Central Christian took the lead 1-0 in the second inning, but the Falcons answered with two runs in the bottom half. Aubrey Smith and Danna Wagnon singled to begin the inning. Cherie Green laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners before Deidre Swinford and Trinitie Butler had had RBI singles. Central Christian tied the game with another run in the third, but  Deidre Swinfor would score the go ahead and eventually game winning run on a wild pitch in the fourth. 

Central Christian would break out offensively in game two scoring 10 runs on 12 hits in a 10-5 victory over the Falcons. Kansas Christian did not go quietly scoring five runs on eight hits as a team. Aubrey Smith had a team high two hits. She also had two Rbis and a run scored. Deidre Swinford had a hit and scored two runs. Danna Wagnon also had a hit and a run scored while Alexis Williams, Cherie Green, Ari Lopez, and Baylee Highfill each recorded a hit. 

The Falcons take on Central Christian again on the road in their next matchup on March 28 at 3:30pm in McPherson, Kan.
