The Kansas Christian softball team dropped two games at NAIA opponent, Oklahoma Wesleyan last week. Oklahoma Wesleyan is receiving votes for the NAIA Softball Top 25.
The Falcons played one of their best games of the season in game one against the toughest opponent they have faced this season. Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first before the Falcons scored three times in the third to take a 3-2 lead. Oklahoma Wesleyan responded quickly with two runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead and the Falcons eventually fell 4-3. Kansas Christian played errorless defense in the loss.
Baylee Highfill and Alexis Williams each had two hits and a run scored to lead the offensive attack. Aubrey Smith had a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Danna Wagnon doubled and drove in two runs. Ari Lopez tossed another complete game for the Falcons.
Oklahoma Wesleyan would pull away for an 11-1 win in game two. Haven Kelly started in the pitching circle and was charged with the loss. Ari Lopez and Baylee Highfill each had a hit for the Falcons. Trinitie Butler scored the Falcons only run. Lopez also stole a base.
The Falcons return home for a double header at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy on Tuesday, March 14. The double header begins at 2pm.
