The Kansas Christian softball team completed their six game home stand with two losses to McPherson College on Tuesday afternoon.
McPherson would score 6-runs in the first inning of game one, all 6-runs given up by starting pitcher Deidre Swinford. Ari Lopez & Danna Wagnon both went 2-3 from the plate, combing for 2-of-3 runs scored. Aubrey Smith swiped 2nd base in bottom of the first. Catcher, Alexis Williams threw out 2-runners attempting to steal. Ari Lopez finished the game by pitching the last 5.1 innings and striking out five. In the 2nd game is was more of the same, costly errors allowing more unearned runs to score. Ari Lopez went the distance in this game striking out 7 and walking only 1 batter. She faced 38 batters and had 18 of them with 2-strikes.
For the home stand, the Lady Falcons hit a combined .252 avg (37-147), 8 extra-base hits, 12 rbi, 2-steals. Ari Lopez led the team with a .375 batting average(6-16), 2 doubles, and was on base 44% of the time. Sam Johnson hit the first home run in KCC History and Danna Wagnon hit the first triple in KCC history as well. Ari Lopez pitched in 6 games, recording complete games in two of them. She struck out 18 batters in 22.1 innings pitched (7.33 K/9).
The Lady Falcons will take on Dallas Christian College on Feb 25, then Southwestern on Feb 28. Then they will play in the Friends Tournament on March 3rd & 4th. Following the Friends Tournament, they will play at Bethel on March 6th and at Hannibal La Grange on March 7th. Their next home stand starts March 10th & 11th (Friday/Saturday) vs Oklahoma Wesleyan followed by Central Christian on March 14th.
