The Kansas Christian men's soccer team snapped a three game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Manhattan Christian College on Monday afternoon. With the victory, the Falcons are now 2-0 in Central Region play.
The Thunder of Manhattan Christian College took the early lead just 14:30 into the game. The Falcons didn't take long to respond getting two goals of their own in the first half of the match. Selemani Shukurani provided the equalizer in the 23rd minute then Roberto Mugabe provided the game winning goal in the 26th minute with Shukurani being credited with the assist.
No goals were scored for eitther team in the second half. Manhattan Christian managed to outshoot the Falcons in the match 14-10 and had six shots on goal to the Falcons four. Gabrierl Farenzena made four saves playing the entire game in goal. It was his second victory in goal this season.
The men's soccer team will host their first home game of the season on Wednesday, September 13 at 1pm. It will also be Reading Buddy Day. Kansas Christian athletic programs partner with Overland Christian School to enter classrooms and read to their elementary students twice a month throughout the school year. A pregame ceremony will be held recognizing the Reading Buddy Program with the buddies in attendance for the game. The Falcons will host Union College and will be played at Scheels Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kan.
