The Kansas Christian men's soccer team fell 4-2 to Providence University-Manitoba in the first round of the NCCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. The Falcons are 0-1 in pool play and will take on Grace Christian at 1:30pm central time on Wednesday, November 16.
Fred Muganza put the Falcons on the board first with a goal in the 15th minute on an assist from Paul Luwawa. Providence responded right away with two goals in the next two minutes to lead the match. Providence added one more goal before halftime leading 3-1.
In the second half Providence extended their lead to 4-1 before Kaboyi Kaboyi netted a goal to pull the Falcons within two. Time would run out on the Falcons as they lost the match 4-2. Joao dos Reis played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
The Falcons remain alive in the tournament and will need a win over Grace Christian to have a shot at a tie breaker situation to advance to the championship game which will feature the two pool winners on Saturday.
