
Falcons Take the ACCA National Championship
The Kansas Christian men's basketball team added another championship to their resume last week as they won the ACCA National Tournament. The Falcons won the Southwest Regional Championship just one week before and will compete in the NCCAA Division II National Championship this week in Joplin, Mo. Kansas Christian is now 21-4 on the season.
The Falcons earned a #2 seed at the ACCA Tournament giving them a first round bye. The Falcons then competed against Ozark Christian in the second round of the tournament earning a 110-88 win. The Falcons scored 63 first half points and held a 14 point lead by halftime. Kansas Christian continued to pull away in the second half on their way to the 22 point victory.
Five players scored over double figures in the win. Elazar Conley had a monster game scoring 31 points and grabbing 18 rebounds for a double-double. He was 15 for 19 from the floor. Jamal Clark scored 20 points. Jay Washington added 18 points, Boog Lewis scored 15 and Jahreese Jordan scored 11 points. Jordan and Conley both had six assists. Jahlani Blari had nine rebounds.
In the championship game, Kansas Christian took on Southwestern Adventist. The Falcons again started strong leading by 10 at halftime. 53 second half points send the Falcons over the century mark for the ninth time this season as they won by a final score of 102-70.
Boog Lewis broke out for 27 points to lead the team in scoring. Jamal Clark added 23 points. Clark also had seven assists. Noah Brooks scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds posting a double-double. Jay Washington scored 12 points and Elazar Conley had 10 points.
After winning the championship, Jamal Clark was named Most Valuable Player for the ACCA Tournament. Elazar Conley was named First Team All-Tournament and Jahlani Blair earned ACCA Academic All-American.
