Kansas Christian Defeat Champion Christian in a Nail-Biter

Kansas Chrstian got on the board first with a ground-out by Manny Valenzuela scoring Drew Lippold, who started off the game with a line drive double.  In the bottom-of-the-fifth, Kris Davis doubled to right field, scoring Brilynn Stults and Marcos Franjul.  Four batters later, Lippold doubled to right field, scoring Ben Shivley and Mikal Whisler.  Now in the fifth, Valenzuela singled and Franjul follows up with a home run to left field, giving the Falcons a commanding 7-0 lead.  

Emmett Lafluer was cruising and looking to secure a 7-0 shut out.  In the 7th inning, he got two outs in four batters, one on a called 3-strike out.  Then, gave up 3-consecutive hits giving up 4-runs and another run on a error.  Lafluer walked another batter, putting the go-ahead run at home plate.  Coach Hurla called for the closer, Jose Ballista.  Ballista nailed the win with a strike out to end the threat and the game.  This was Ballista's sixth save on the season and Lafluer's 3rd win.

Lippold went 4-4 with a run scored and 2-RBIs, smacking 2-doubles, he also stole a base. Franjul went 1-2 with 2-runs and 2-RBIs.  Davis went 3-3 with 2-RBIs.

This was the first of a 4-game set with Champion Christian.
